i heart faces - week 39: chalk

Isn't this true?? My boy gladly held the sign and then asked, "What does it say, Mom?" He's learning how to read, but not there yet! I got one of his dad holding the sign, too. But, I didn't want to embarrass him - even though he is a stud! :)

A school birthday

On Friday, I was able to volunteer in Gus' classroom. The teacher had asked that we donate a book for his birthday in lieu of bringing treats. Gus chose a baseball book that we had recently checked out from the library called Baseball from A to Z.

We wrapped the book and he presented it to his class. I read the book with the class and also got to stay to help the students make edible buses as a closing activity to their bus unit. Gus is sitting with his good friend from Bethlehem preschool. It has been so nice for him to have friends in his class. It was fun to see Gus celebrate his birthday at school. It is hard to believe he's 6 years old!

i heart faces - week 37: vroom, vroom

The theme for this week at i heart faces required some form of transportation and a face. While Anja and I were at the cabin last weekend (without the boys), we toured the area for some haybales and found this wonderful hay wagon. A wedding and Henri

Two friends of mine were married a few weeks ago. I have known Kirsten since I was a very little girl at Bethlehem Covenant Church. We enjoyed many fun times in youth group together. I went to high school with Dave and he went to North Park for about a year. So, there are many connections - we now are all on the same broomball team. These two met/were reaquainted at Bethlehem and are now married! Congrats, Kirsten and David!

The wedding of these two brought my friend Kip into town. Kip was one of my best buds growing up and we spent many hours building legos and playing on his Atari computer, which he won on a McDonalds Centipede game card (on his golden birthday 10/10 and I was there! It was awesome!). Kip and his family live in Michigan, so it was great to have him around for a few days. My boys enjoyed spending time with Kip's son, Henri. Henri is such a great kid and the boys had fun playing baseball and legos together. We just wish they all lived closer!

The girls at the cabin

Anja and I headed up to the cabin while the boys stayed at home this past weekend. They had fun playing baseball and hiking by the creek. As you can see from the picture of Anja, we had loads of fun up north. I'll be posting again soon to share some of our adventures.

Hop on the bus, GUS!

Here he is finally hopping on the bus. Way to go, Gus! You did it and we are proud of you. Gus had a great first day of school. His favorite part was "crafts" where he got to draw a picture of himself in our backyard under the tree.

Forever Young

Kip made this video highlighting Gus. We wanted to put something together to remember the early years of Gus to have on his first day of Kindergarten! It is hard to believe how fast time has flown. We sure love this guy. He's still our Buddy Gus. Enjoy!
